Also known as: Yogurt and Mung Balls
This past weekend, I was able to indulge in some authentic Indian food… which I’ve never had before (authentic, that is). One of the yummy foods I was able to partake in is this yummy Dahi Bhalle. At first, I thought this was dessert… that I just so happen to eat with my entree… but nope! Apparently this is some kind of North Indian snack/street food. It has Mung lentil balls fried and soaked in water until they soften and then placed in a shallow dish. Sweet yogurt and tamarind chutney are then poured over the balls and refrigerated for 20 minutes to allow the sweet yogurt to seep into the balls.
It definitely balanced out the other yummy (and spicy!) foods I was able to indulge in. More on that later!
**Many thanks for Ekta and Ajay for hosting a wonderful housewarming party with amazing Indian food for me to feature!
