Now that this place is 5-10 minutes away from my new job in DC… it’s definitely a default go-to place when the co-workers and I are looking for a delicious bite to eat during our lunch break. They just opened up a spot in Dupont Circle with a new menu so I’m going to need to check that out soon (unless they end up sharing menus across stores)
It’s a popular spot to be in in DC during lunch amongst the DC business sector… so if you want to be in and out… I suggest going there a little bit earlier than noon. It’s not a huge place to begin with so it makes sense. They only have one big community table in the middle of the restaurant.. and a few scattered outdoor tables outside.
…but anyways, back to the review.
I originally reviewed the Sofie sushi burrito here, so definitely take a look at that. The little trick that I learned (which isn’t really a trick, but it was something new to me) is that I request for a side of unagi and spicy mayo to flavor it up a little bit more. Also, this isn’t the typical Sofie as I substituted their usual pickled cabbage for arugula. I liked it A LOT better.
and as for the drink side, definitely look into trying out their Basil Lemonade. It’s a little on the sweet side, so I ended up adding a quarter of water to mine for the perfect taste. Personal preference though, so you might not need to.
Buredo is a DC staple that you need to check out if you’re ever in the area… and it’s a plus that it’s only a few minutes walk to the White House!
**modified: original article had previously mentioned coleslaw in the Sofie, but it was actually pickled cabbage… you can also get a side of unagi sauce* instead of soy sauce, as was previously mentioned
